There's A Fly In My Chemical Soup

Our politicians are like Grover on Sesame Street
They'll try to put one over
Real discreet;
After all,
Grover did deny
In his customer's soup
He spotted a fly;
The irate customer sent back the goop;
And instead of admitting he saw the fly
Grover acted out;
A bald faced lie

When Grover got caught he used spin
He insisted,
Fly Soup,
Was what the fly was in.
The customer would have been better off ordering a burrito
The soup Grover brought him back, was cream of mosquito!

One little fly and the whole bowl did spoil
Like the chemicals we consume, derived from oil
You worked your fingers to the bone;
Ye did toil
So our kids could play in contaminated soil?

Our planet was once like a bowl of hearty gumbo
No need for True Detectives,
Or even Columbo
Conservatives label climate change
Liberal mumbo jumbo
Like the elephant and the mouse,
We often look like Dumbo.

Petrochemicals we consume,
Like Bisphenol A
What's a little bit of poison
to a real hoser Eh?
What're you going to do?
We shrug and say,
They make baby bottles from it
We all die anyway!
If we're going to poison ourselves,
And make our kids pay,
And corporations have more money than they can weigh,
Why in hell shouldn't they pay?

If it were one chemical that'd be fine
But it's a chemical soup
Like a pickle in a brine
Of benzene, toluene, propene, ethylene -
Take your pick,
Give Suncor, Imperial or Dow
A license to -
Make me sick!
Don't worry one bit
You have nothing to fear,
You still have your job
You love your career!

Keep the multinationals happy
Or move away, they may
To exploit the impoverished
For a fraction of the pay;
Hell, fly soup's not so bad,
Their political friends would say;
Poison the public!
And then tell the media!
Make them look the other away!

The Last Supper

Go ahead, taste the meat;
It's tenderloin! Ah yes it's great!
Succulent and oh so sweet;
No one to say, clean your plate;

Smell the rosemary and the thyme;
Savor their taste, don't eat too fast;
Like butter in your mouth, quite sublime!
Woe this meal, will be your last.

Breathe in deep, the warm sweet air;
Feel the cool grass, cushion your feet;
The sun on your cheek, does not compare;
The birds sing along; tweet, tweet, tweet.

Absorb the beauty with open eyes;
Nature; our gracious host
The sand dove; forlorn, cries
This day's your last so make the most.

Outside kids play;
Abandon, captivates their eyes;
Hear them giggle; now hear them say,
Our last day is no surprise!

The table laid, places set;
A supper exquisite, yet unsurpassed;
The guests are not here yet;
They know this supper will be their last.

GOD DAMN IT!

Is it possible for Canadians,
to become world leaders again?
They'll require independent thinking, if and when,
 anything good comes of the corporate business men,
who enrich themselves before innovation.

We must seek to live in harmony with the planet,
by not using energy that will damn it.
When there's gravity, oxygen, electromagnetic
and even the earth's rotational kinetic.

This is the planet's mental capacity
It's natural ability to think and see
It governs life, not just for you and me
but for trillions of other entities!

  Rousseau said:
 "You are lost
 If you forget
 that the fruits of the earth belong to all
 and the earth to no one"
... when he addressed the simpleton.
 The disaffected angry ones believe,
 be indifferent to politics because it deceives.
 Yet the very politicians plant this seed
 you are the fly caught in the web they weaved,
 on whom the corporate liars feed.

When the Conservatives sold Canada to the highest bidder,
had you ever really stopped to consider,
when the wealth from the oil left our shore
That it was headed to the coffers of the shareholders for,
 the likes of Paramount and Koch Resources,
leaving Canadians to contend with climate change forces?

What ever happened to ingenuity?
It seems it was expelled for truancy,
to make room for the kids of affluence
the future engineers of social congruence.

The affluent are incapable of anything but greed,
fueled by their infantile need,
intent on destroying the planet,
if we can't have it, then God damn it!

Canadian New World Order

In 8 years of rule
The Conservatives in Canada
played Canadians for the fool!

Their most brilliant idea -
Keystone XL?
How come nobody else,
can barely stand the smell?

Canada is a product of leadership mediocrity
I suppose that's how it is
when you've become a corporatocracy.

With their craving for the almighty American dollar
The Conservative government has Canadians by the collar,
with its sweet promise of creating more jobs,
while kissing the collective asses of the corporate oil slobs

Who is this government working for anyway?
This old, New World whore,
traded our democracy
for big oil and war!

They will try everything to make you think
Our own oil is the national security link.
Could this be their personal revenue stream,
so voters think tax cuts make government lean?
 Then who's going to pay for your Freedom 55 dream?
With any luck you could be that old fart,
greeting pushy shoppers at your local Walmart!

The Baby Boomers got their piece of the pie,
now children before their parents will probably die
because the middle class has withered away,
and a part-time job's unable to pay
for the growing needs of the youth today
while our environment continues to decay.

Alberta oil's still gushing ,
from the wishing well,
Big business is booming,
condos are being built,
here's the perfect remedy to alleviate your guilt.
Now all can raise a glass of good cheer,
for the Conservative Party vision we call the "Two Tier"!

Canada's High Grade Black Tar

The earth rotates on her axis,
eternally upon her orbit she taxes.
Hear the mighty seas perpetual roar,
as the tides ebb and flow past the shore.

Like neurons that fire electrical synapses,
within a myriad of nerve impulses that lapses.
The drive that propels our sensuous pace,
on this continuum of both time and space.

Energy is constant and it is free,
not the tool of economic slavery!
Why then do we need this filthy oil?
To satisfy their greed on this mortal coil?

The earth and your body are one in the same,
 don't inject their poison into your vein,
like the solvents for bitumen washing your brain
this pipeline keeps us craving high octane,
A mainline for the residue of yesterday's remains.

Canadian, high grade, black tar-sands
Not for your arm,
but from the Athabascan,
Fuel for the dirty wars that still rage
To prop up wealth, status and wage

When there is science to harness free energy
Not the oil of domination and dependency,
not another grease for the palms, of political will
like those political opportunists,
with their hand in the till.
